Creating a research community towards
technological revolution of AI for materials and
design

Artificial intelligence (AI) is reshaping the global landscape, driving unprecedented
advancements across all sectors by enhancing efficiency, enabling innovation, and
transforming data into actionable insights, setting the stage for a future where AI’s
integration is intrinsic to all facets of industry and daily life. Before the advent of AI,

the developments of materials and design were primarily guided by empirical research
and traditional engineering methods. Innovations were constrained by the slower pace

of manual experimentation and the limitations of human foresight and computational
capacity in handling complex data and simulations. The fusion of AI with materials

science and design engineering is ushering us into a transformative era in technological
advancements and industrial applications. As AI technology matures, its integration
into the realms of material discovery, design optimization, and advanced manufacturing
processes becomes increasingly pivotal, reshaping the landscapes of industries and
