            Appendix 2
            (1) This is the text presented to the participants of the original text group. The text contains accurate information about
both the artist and the artwork:
“Artwork: Composition IV: Battle, year 1911, oil on canvas, 159.5 × 250.5 cm.
This piece by the artist Kandinsky, born in Moscow, refers to the Russian medieval era. For the artwork “Composition
IV: Battle,” the painter drew inspiration from his previous painting “Cossacks” from 1911. Composition IV depicts,
in the upper left part, the battle between two Cossacks with red caps, a rainbow on the left, a blue mountain in the
center, the profile of a fortress at the summit, and the blurred figures of three Cossacks, two of whom hold long lances,
commanding the composition. On the right, diagonally, appear the figures of two inclined lovers, balancing the
tumultuous dynamism of the knights on the left. On a mountain, two individuals contemplate the scene.”
            (2) This is the text that was presented to the participants of the fictitious text group. The text contains inaccurate information
regarding both the artist and the artwork.
               “Village Attack
As dusk falls amidst explosions, a giant with long arms destroys the houses of a village near a fireworks factory on an
island in the South Pacific. Wooden splinters and metal shards scatter from the factory, exploding into a profusion of
colors. Desperate people run, throwing themselves into the sea, trying to escape the fury of the giant and the explosions.
A bridge connecting the village island to the mainland is struck by the giant and splits in half (on the left). Amidst the
colorful smoke, the giant moves, uprooting trees and entering the forest.”
            (3) The control group did not receive any texts.
